About the satellite connection

This app does not talk directly to weather satellites (that requires licensed ground stations and specialized processing). Instead it uses Open-Meteo, which combines numerical weather prediction models from ECMWF, NOAA, DWD, JMA and others. Those models continuously assimilate observations from geostationary and polar-orbiting satellites (GOES, Meteosat, Himawari, etc.), radar, aircraft, radiosondes and surface stations. The result is near-real-time, high-resolution weather for virtually every point on Earth — including every country, state/province and city.
